A Week in the Clinic
I learned something this week that we need to learn every day every day of our lives. To have patience. The hardest thing about this week was just sitting in the clinic waiting for test results or waiting for appointments with the doctor, in the end to find out that I didn’t have an infection and the food here was finally taking its toll on my body. Funny thing about the clinic, when I was trying to call Hemana Hansen about the clinic the President answered the phone. It was probably one of the most awkward conversations I have ever had. I was in drumline and cant hear a thing on the phone, and he has hearing aids and has a hard time hearing also. I thought that he had all of the missionaries' phone numbers saved into his phone, and I had talked to Hermana Hansen earlier about visiting the Clinic, so I just dived straight in to what happened. This is a lot of information you probably don't care to read so if you get grossed out by medical stuff, Don't read. The doctor thought I had an infection, and so to make sure, he needed a feces sample... AKA "the most terrible thing ever!!!!" I had to make sure everything the doctor said was approved with Hermana Hansen and then then began my conversation with President Hansen. Yo: "Hola President Hansen I am here in the clinic to reporting to Hermana Hansen about what the docter said. He needs to take a feces sample to make sure I don't have an infection." President: Poo?... (and then I couldn't hear) Yo: "Uh yeah poo. President: "poo...." (couldn't hear again). Yo: "Yes, poo. Is this a problem?" President: WHO! who is this! Needless to say my phone conversations are usually pretty comical especially in Spanish. I have never been more embarrassed in my life! Every thing is ok and I am now completely healthy so there is no need to worry mom. :) The rest of the week, after the clinic, we had unusual success. In the end we were able to complete almost all of our goals. The members are finally working with us and it is helping us so much. It really shows that when we are going about being obedient, the Lord does bless us with the things we need. I love the quote in preach my gospel Dallin H. Oaks gave about his mom and her reason for paying tithing. I don’t know exactly what she says but here it is: "I cannot afford to go without the blessings of tithing for my life and for my family." This whole week this quote has been running through my head but with different words. "I cannot afford to go without the blessings of obedience in my life and through my mission." To be exactly obedient is one of my goals for my mission. It makes the mission a whole lot harder, but in the end the obedient are the happiest. If we go the extra mile for the Lord, the Lord does a little more to give us happiness. The Global Conference for missionaries we had this last week was great. It really cemented the importance of those things I learned in my training. I hope that since I am through with my training that I can continue to utilize those teachings from 12 Semanas. When we have a firm foundation of the fundamentals of Preach My Gospel, the Lord can build our talents and ability to be a better servant. I try to write a good letter every week but the internet is so slow. You know you're a missionary in Bolivia when 50% of your hour and a half writing your families is spent waiting for the internet to load. !Te quiero mucho! Udstedes podria estar mejor, pero las personas aqui son mejores. ;)
