Earthquake!
This week was incredible!!! I have never felt the spirit so strong in my life!!!! A ton has happened in a short amount of time so hopefully I can get it all written.
Twas the night after P-Day and all through the dorm, all the people were sleeping and then was the roar.
I was in my bed trying to sleep and we had an earthquake. The whole room shook!! I thought the elders in my dorm were just messin´ with me, shaking my bed. I got out of bed and everyone was out in the hall. The earthquake woke everyone up in the dorm.
Now I know, even in an earth quake I won’t wake up ;).
The next day during "physical activitad" I played soccer. Regardless of how many times I play soccer, I don’t get any better, but I do get more competitive. My battle wounds from that day consisted of two bloody knees, and getting hit in the head twice. Haha I´m taking a little break from soccer for the moment. So sorry my soccer friends. I still am no good at soccer.
Saturday was the highlight of my week. We got to leave the walls of the CCM to go do "proseletismo!" (proselyting). My comp and I went by bus to the Lima Sol mission, and I went with a Latino who only has 3 months left in his mission. I was so excited to go, but as soon as I got there it was like my mouth was glued shut. I could not speak a word to any of the Latinos. I was terrified to speak Spanish. I said a silent prayer asking for the strength to speak and the story of Joseph came into my mind.
Before Joseph Smith spoke to God, Satan tried to bind his mouth. In an account given by Jeffery R. Holland to the missionaries he said,
‘’When Joseph Smith prayed to God I'm sure he wanted to kill Joseph, but he couldn’t, instead he did the next best thing. He bound his tongue.”
This quote is a paraphrase and I did not do it justice, but the message is true. All Satan needs to do to keep the missionary work from progressing is to keep you from speaking. At the second house I was able to talk about the apostasy and then at the last house, I bore my testimony. The spirit was crazy strong as me and my companion were able to speak the thoughts in our hearts.
Apparently I said, I killed the Savior, but I'm also Jesus Christ, but who really knows. haha I was in a lesson and I was trying to explain how Christ died on the Cross, Instead I said “I killed Christ on the Cross” hahaha!!!
Another time I was bearing my testimony and I was trying to say I love Jesus Christ: “Yo amo Jesucristo”. instead I said “Me amo Jesucristo”, which means “I love myself, Jesus Christ”.
We all got a good laugh about those this week. My maestros (teachers) are Hermano Sosa in la Mañana (in the mornings), y Hermano Valera en la noche (at night).
Today Hermano Valera asked us all to write down all of our questions about the gospel on the board. He was able to answer all of our questions using the scriptures. I know that when we utilize the scriptures you can find answers to all of your questions. It was the most spiritual lesson this week.
Tonight I get to do a teaching simulation with my comp for the new Precipeantes, (newbies). I am pretty excited about that. Well I got to go, I love you all and I am so grateful for all the love and support. I know that this church is true and I know that Joseph Smith is the prophet. I know that through the Spirit we can accomplish all things. We need not worry what we will say for the Spirit will tell us the very things we need to say at the moment we need them.
IF WE WORK.
Until next week.
