Hungering & Thirsting Physically & Spiritually

(Family email only this week):

Thank you for your emails. This week has been really hard. The missionaries before us didn't pay for power, and I was told we didn't have to pay for power. So they cut the power to the house. We can't cook or use lights, so I have not been eating good. We had an amazing stake conference which after we were going to eat with a member, but the conference did not get over until nine, and we did not get to her house until 9:30. I wanted to go but I felt really hungry so we stayed and ate. We did not get to the house until 11:00 because its a 30 minute walk from her house to ours. I feel terrible about it but at the same time don't know what to think. My companion has been super sick the last couple of days. (Nathan learned today that his Great Grandpa Young (Darcy's Grandfather) passed away): I am happy to hear that Grandpa is not in pain any more. I will pray for Grandma. It is so sad to see him go. I don't have any more time, so this is all I can write. I love you so much, and don't worry, mom, I am drinking lots of water, and every lunch with the pension is really big and nutritious. I am not starving. (Since Nathan's email was short, I thought I would also include some touching insight that he had recently shared with his family from his scripture study): I have been studying two things a ton in the scriptures. I have been comparing the Sermon on the Mount, Matthew 5, and what Christ says to the Nephites in the Americas, 3 Nephi 12. You should read these. The second thing I have been studying has brought tons of understanding about the importance of the scriptures and testimonies. I have been studying the Creation. In Genesis it says in every verse about the creation "and God said". So literally everything that God said happened. After I compared it to Abraham scriptures of the creation. When I read this I realized the importance of the Creation. Christ and Heavenly Father literally created the earth with their words. When Christ was on the earth, all Christ had to say was "arise and take up thy bed", and a man was healed. It is the same with God's words. The Word of God is a literal power. This is why it is important to read the scriptures. When we read and memorize scriptures, we are literally blessed with a little of the word/power of God. The physical reason people feel the Spirit when they read the scriptures is because they are literally reading the Word of God. This is why the priesthood is exercised by humbly putting your hands on someones head and offering a fervent blessing. The Power of God is his words. This has literally changed my understanding about many aspects of the gospel. The importance of prophets, (speak with God then speak to us), The scriptures, (the raw power of God) and our Savior, John 1:1, Christ is the Word, or in other words, Christ is the power, Through Christ´s power or words, we can return to live with our Father in Heaven again and live with our families. I know that when we pray for understanding of the scriptures, the Lord will bless us with understanding. "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally and upbraideth not and IT SHALL BE GIVEN HIM.
