Become Fluent in the Language of the Spirit
Well this week was just a get down to work week. Nothing beats when you are so exhausted that you fall asleep in your prayers before going to bed. I apologize in advance because this letter won't be anything special. We had an activity today as a district which turned into a ward activity. We had almost all the youth and 2 investigators at the activity. We then went to a member's house to make pizza for the birthday of one of the misioneras (sister missionaries) in the district. My companion and I, well, we are probably the weirdest companionship in the mission. We are the exact same height, weight, and look the same also. We always crack up at the looks we get when walking. It has also been a blessing being with him because although we look out of place here, it gets a lot of people asking us questions. We found so many people this week hurrying to and fro from lessons, and on micros. This week I have really seen the importance of not only being fluent in your appropriate mission language, but to become fluent in the language of the Spirit, and the only way fluency comes is through being obedient. The mission is one of the few times in your life where you have so many rules and restrictions, but with all the more rules bring all the more blessings. The rules come as a safety, in the lives of a missionary, but more importantly as a tool to have the Spirit in your lives. Whenever I think about having the Spirit through obedience, I think of when as a priest quorum group we went to Zion National park. In Zion National Park, there is look out spot called Angels Landing, from where you can see every part of the very beautiful Zions National Park. Although the view from the top is amazing, it is not easy to get there. At a certain part in the climb, you find yourself walking in a thin trail with a hundred foot drop on either side of the trail, with the only thing to help you is a chain, that runs the whole length of this part of the trail. Although it is pretty obvious why the chain is there, many people have died, not using the chain. As you use the chain, with work, you make it to the top, seeing everything very beautifully and clearly. As a missionary we need to be obedient to be fluent in the Spirit, because if we are not obedient we will never have that clear vision up top that we need to feel the Spirit. Well I am running short on time. I hope you all have an amazing week.
