Week of Sweets
Well this week I have eaten so much dessert, I really should be sick. In almost every house we enter they have given us a full course meal with a desert to top it off. Not to mention that we have the best pencionista in the world. Wednesday we were given the best tacos in the world, Thursday Saltenias, and Sunday BBQ chicken with grilled cheese, not the sandwich grilled cheese, but grilled cheese. I can't describe how good it was. As good as it was, I don't ever want to eat again. I am so full. Well enough of my food. I seem to talk about that a lot. It must be pretty important to me. HAHA This week was actually a lot more than the food I ate. In a zone meeting we had recently, we had a lesson about the Atonement. If anything, I realized that we often testify of Christ and teach about the Atonement but not as often and in the way we should, so after the zone meeting my companion and I set an unplanned goal to try to include Christ and his Atonement in every lesson. I mean Christ is the head of the Church, and this great work and glory that we are doing, and it is through Christ that all mankind has been saved. And because of this we saw many miracles, ever lesson we taught was changed, and the Spirit was more powerful. As we spoke more about the Atonement and repentance, contacting and teaching, many people who were not progressing came to church, and they are really reading their scriptures daily. Knowledge of the Atonement causes people to change and repent, and helps them realize the love that God has for them. If we really understood the sacrifice that Christ made for us, we would be more willing to repent and change. Our desires to do evil would slowly disappear, filling the empty places in our hearts with the love of Christ, and a desire to do good. This applies to every one of us, investigators, straight laced members or people who are struggling with sin or a trial. Like it says in Moroni 10:32-33 "Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God. And again, if ye by the grace of God are perfect in Christ, and deny not his power, then are ye sanctified in Christ by the grace of God, through the shedding of the blood of Christ, which is in the covenant of the Father unto the remission of your sins, that ye become holy, without spot." I love these verses so much because It is so true. As we come unto Christ, if we really love Him we can change and be forgiven, through the blood that He shed for us in the Garden of Gethsemane. As we come to know the Savior more, our love for Him is strengthened and we have more desire to change. If anyone is struggling and wants to be better, as you study the sacrifice of our Savior, your desires will change. You can overcome old habits, overcome laziness, and really live happily in peace. Study the sacrifice of our Savior, study the scriptures, and you will see the love of Christ change your carnal desires into Christ's. I love you all and where you are going in your lives.
