HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!
Wow this week was incredible!!!! Like I said last week, My companion´s name is Elder Caceres from Puerto Rico. And he is pretty much the coolest guy that ever walked the earth. He plays every sport, cooks better than me, has the singing voice of an angel, speaks English better than me, loves to eat, super insanely goofy, but all the same he is very humble, works hard, and has a heart of a giant. And Dad, Marilee said you served in his ward. If I can't keep up my exercises like I have been doing I will probably be pretty fat to end this cambio (transfer). This week was District Conference and Elder Balderama, our Area Seventy, came for the first time to the Tupiza District. He has spoken before and has basically been receiving assignments in every place I go. When I was in Bella Vista he came, again in Potosi, and now Tupiza. One of my favorite things he said I wanted to share with you. Its basically a quote you would see in a movie. He said, "It's nobody´s fault the face you have, but it is your fault the face you make" "Es la culpa de nadie la cara que tiene, pero si es su culpa la cara que pone" It is such a five star quote because it is true. If I have learned anything, it is that life is a pain in the butt! So many circumstances are out of our hands, but it is OUR choice what we do with our circumstances.
Sometimes our circumstances show on our face. The expressions we make. But the choice to smile when it's hard is like the choice in a car to go left or right: The choice itself doesn't make us happy, but it sets us on the path to be happier. Choosing to smile and rely on the Lord does not promise us that life will be full of easy times, but choosing to be happy means that we will make ourselves happy in our difficult times. As we were heading today to write our families, all of the missionaries jumped into the micro and we started singing hymns on the micro. Just seeing all the faces turn from normal to sad, to super happy, made my day. I have found here in the mission, that no matter how ridiculous your ideas may be, even if they are super insane or embarrassing, if you feel it is right and the Spirit tells you to do it, do it without thinking twice. As we headed to our bus to Tupiza Friday night, we found a guy who was walking around with his three pit bulls that scared me half to death as they barked at me, but I felt the impression to talk to their owner anyway.
The dogs approached us crouched over as we approached the owner, but once we got there, they calmed down and we were able to talk to him, finding out that his son was baptized in the church and now lives in Utah. Also his other son has moved to Oklahoma to become a boy scout and is investigating the church. I hope everything goes right and that he can someday find that happiness that comes that his son has found. I love you all and am praying for you always. I loved getting all your emails this week and can't wait to hear from you the next week.
