400 Bolivianos For An Investigator

Well I looked at what time I have left, and I have 6 minutes, so you will have to excuse my spelling and grammar. I hope you all understand my story. This week was absolutely amazing. But right now as I am rushed, the only thing I can think of is a really hilarious story that happened. This week we were walking down the street heading from one lesson to another, and I have a personal goal to talk to someone new between every lesson we have. As we walked I was praying that I could find someone that is ready for the gospel in their lives. Looking up and down the street I stepped on a piece of paper, no it was 2 papers. It was 400 Bolivianos! I picked it up super confused, staring at it in the middle of the road, as my companion kept walking thinking he was on my side. Me thinking I was on his. I had like 7 hundred ideas run though my head in like the 6 seconds I stood there. I can't just leave the money here because someone will pick it up and buy drinks. I can't keep it either because that would be ridiculous! Oh look someone is staring at me. I´ll give it to her. WE ENDED UP GIVING HER THE 400 B´s!!! That's enough to buy a small TV. Besides this we had an interesting conversation and have a lesson planned for another day this week. I hope that my thoughts are wrong and she was interested in our message not because we gave her money but because she wanted to hear from us. She said "Oh my husband just left. It could be his money" We don't really believe her haha. I still don't know what was going through my head, my body was on auto pilot, hahaha but I hope that something comes from this. Lesson learned: The Lord works in mysterious ways!! Very mysterious. That night when we got to the house my comp and I were laughing so hard we were crying. I still in random moments will think about it and just start laughing. No one knowing why. I hope you all have an amazing week and remember to read the scriptures. (Dad edit: The following is from Nathan's email response to parent emails this week. I told Nathan about the opportunity I had to eat authentic Puerto Rican food (my mission was there), including a drink called "Malta India", that tastes kind of like carbonated caramel mud water. The other things he shares were meaningful to us.) Interesting to hear about the food you ate. That sounds a lot like some stuff they do here. Every missionary has an addiction to what is called Matte. It tastes absolutely delicious but I don't drink it because I don't want to have to go through a recovery process when I leave. Its just an herb with flavoring of any fruit that you mix with hot water, and drink it. The problem is it's super strong and the portion of water to herb is like 80 herb and 20 water with enough sugar that just by looking at it you have cavities. They say it helps with anything. Headache... Matte, tired... matte, stomach hurts...matte. Although it tastes really good, when the gringos first try it, they hate it, but then they learn to love it. When I first tried it, I wanted to throw up. It was like drinking grass with a little water. I was sick the whole first day I tried it. Now it tastes amazingly good, but I don't drink it, because it has so much sugar and does not help with anything but give cavities. Some people drink it with milk. They love it, but then if they eat any other dairy throughout the day, their stomachs ache like crazy. Besides going through the temple (for the first time), my favorite experiences in the temple are the sealings that I did with you, mom - and when I saw Michael get married. It was incredible. Nothing felt so right in the world. I thought I would let you know how great our pensionista has been for us. She had cancer a long time ago and sometimes it's a battle with her body to make us food. but she loves doing it. She is one of the top three people that have helped me in the mission. One day we had a conversation about what she thought Christ looks like. I ended up drawing her this picture based off her description. I will miss her.
