8 Things You Need to Know
Well my last email was super short so I hope this makes up for it.
First of all Merry Christmas! Thank you to everyone who could send those letters to my Mom. I loved reading each and everyone of them. Christmas is the best time of year for a missionary, but it is also the time when they are most homesick. Reading all the letters really just made my day and feel like I was home. I am really missing the snow. You should all send me some pictures of the snow. haha. It is really hot here. This Christmas, after church we went with a lot of members and sang door to door for all the patients in the hospitals here. It was an amazing. The spirit was so strong. I think the coolest thing was is that there was only 5 people in all the 3hospitals. What a blessing!! We spent the whole day talking to knew people about Christ´s birth. It´s a sad thing because lots of people don't really understand and cant put Christ and Christmas together. We explained to everyone that Navidad isn't just a day that we get to spend with our families, It is the day we Celebrate the birth of our savior. The beginning of December, Uyuni started building a Nativity Scene out of salt. It was really cool, but when they got every thing finished everyone was there but the baby Jesus. I was really confused at first, we started asking around and the members said that Its a tradition when there is a Nativity to not put out the baby Jesus tell the day of his birth, Christmas day.
So Christmas day, and we went to the Nativity scene, and there was no baby Jesus. I really thought that it was all so funny, but it has a pretty important lesson in it to. How often do we fall into the same error that the nativity builder fell into. We get sucked into having all the fine details of Christmas ready and perfect that we forget the most important part of Christmas, CHRIST! Besides seeing my family, My favorite part of Christmas was reading one of the notes My brother Danny wrote to me in the Christmas package. I don't even know if he remembers what he wrote, but WOW!! My Brother is wise beyond his years. Instead of writing a regular letter, he gave me 8 tips or things that I need to know. I loved it so much and it meant so much to me, that I want to share it with all of you. I know that my little brother is going to be the perfect missionary. Note all of the smiley faces my brother put.
1: Remember that the Lord is always with you and that if you don't give up on him, he won´t give up on you. 2: You always have a second chance and you should never feel like you failed, NO MATTER WHAT! (Failure is just one step in the right direction) 3: You´ll always be supported by us your family, friends, and Jesus Christ. 4: Always smile, 😁 and never feel like you´re not doing enough, because every step you talk helps. 5: Be you!! Don´t try to be someone you´re not because we like Nathan as Nathan. 😊😁 6: You Rock!! and will always rock, and don´t let anyone say otherwise. 7: You tried you best. Don't look back and think of what you did badly. 😞 Think of what you did well! Only remember what you did bad so you can make sure you don't make the same mistake again. 8: Remember everything, and everyone. Remember the wonderful time you had so you can tell your children, grandchildren, and maybe even great grand children, and after your mission... I want a full report. Danny I love you, and thank you for the advice, I hope that all of you can learn a few things from my genius brother. Sè que dios nos ama, y por eso nos dio su hijo Jesucristo, para que un día podemos cambiar. Si cercamos a el podemos tener la paz y satisfacción que estamos buscando. Les quiero. Elder Heaps
