Best Selves
Well this week I say goodbye to Uyuni and am getting transferred to Cochabamba. And I will be comps again with Elder Padilla (my Spanish comp with me in Potosi). I am really sad to leave Elder Caceres, but I know that my time is up here. Uyuni has been full of ups and downs that I feel has made me grow up a lot. It has been hard, and I had to do things I never thought I would have to do ever in my life, but I know that I learned so much. Uyuni will always be in my heart.
I love a quote by Tomas S. Monson that has really been in my mind for a long time. This quote has come to make me realize why I was sent here. "OUR TASK IS TO BECOME OUR BEST SELVES" I came to the mission to help those who God has put in my path, but also with that in mind that if I put forth all of my effort, that I can be changed. But the Atonement doesn't work that way. God created us, each and every one of us differently, with a potential to become like God. This quote is so really important. We should not change who we are, we should better the person that God made us to be. DON'T COMPARE YOURSELVES TO OTHERS He made you and I differently. Some of us are more talented with sports, others dance. Others are easily caring and some more humorous to make people smile. Like the quote says, "Our task is to become our best selves" and I don't think that is possible if we are constantly comparing ourselves to others when the only one we need to compare ourselves to is Christ. Christ's word to the Nephites when he came to the Americas was this. "Therefore I would that ye should be perfect even as I, or your Father who is in heaven is perfect." (3 Nephi 12:48) This does not say "Therefore I would that ye should be even as him or her." It says "Be perfect even as our Savior is." You are to help prepare the world for the millennial reign of the Savior by helping to gather the elect from the four quarters of the earth, so that all who choose to do so may receive the gospel of Jesus Christ and all of its blessings.(Russel M. Nelson) We have a special calling here on earth as members of the church. We cannot help prepare for the millennial reign if we are not our best selves. I love you all and hope you have a great week. There was my spiritual blabber for the week haha. (Dad edit: I thought I would also include this small note to family that explains a little more about what he will be doing): I have just been called as Secretario de Registros yesterday. I am super nervous, mostly because every mistake I make can have grave consequences. Pray that God can help me do a good job, I know he can, but it still scares me.!!!
